Report on Library Automation and E-Resources Workshop

The apex Quality Assurance Agency of the country, NAAC has practiced the philosophy of being an 'enabling organization', to achieve the desired quality consciousness for global competence among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), through a three- tier quality sustenance activity.

 

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) was established in 1994 as an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC) with its Head Quarter in Bengaluru. The mandate of NAAC as reflected in its vision statement is in making quality assurance an integral part of the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The University Grants Commission (UGC) through a gazette notification dated 19th January 2013, has made it mandatory for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to undergo accreditation.3

State Quality Assurance Cell is considered significant for spreading the awareness and monitoring quality as well as achieving the desired NAAC Assessment and Accreditation of Government First Grade Colleges/Aided Colleges in Karnataka with an organized and phased manner.

State Quality Assurance Cell (SQAC)

State Quality Assurance Cell (SQAC) is a cell monitored by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education. The SQAC will guide and coordinate the work of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of colleges to achieve the desired quality in higher education and to obtain good grades in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) A&A process. The role of SQAC starts with the allocation of funds to colleges for annual IQAC activities and the NAAC A&A process, monitoring the functions of IQACs, assisting in the documentation of IQAC as per the NAAC requirements at the college level. SQAC will also coordinate the colleges through Workshop/ Review meeting and assist in preparing IIQA, SSR and yearly submission of AQAR reports.

 

Activities of SQAC at DCE

1) SQAC has designed the SOP, action plan and necessary templates to ease the NAAC process and necessary training has been given.

2) SQAC has designed an Institutional Academic Calendar for Government First Grade Colleges in accordance with the NAAC manual, through which Colleges will enhance the quality in the delivery of education.

3) SQAC has circulated Stakeholder feedback format Google forms as per Criteria- 1 of NAAC manual and training was conducted for the colleges to analyse the feedback forms.

4) Conducted series of offline and online workshops on Revised NAAC Accreditation Framework to identified NAAC going 215 GFGCs.

5) A comprehensive Academic and Administrative audit format for institution and faculties has been prepared.

6) The SQAC DCE has organized One Week Workshop on Revised Accreditation Framework 2020 with Special Reference to DVV to 34 NAAC going colleges from 07th June 2021 to 14th June 2021.

7) SQAC has conducted series of Review meetings are conducted online and offline to review the NAAC preparedness of the colleges
